Chaos
From Uzbekistan, it was one tricky stop over before I landed in New Delhi airport. One thing nice about the flight was flying over Afghanistan. The guesthouse host arranged for someone to pick me up. There was even a passcode to make sure you got the right driver. Delhi is notorious for a million little scams(which doesn't cost you too much monetarily but your pride might get hurt). After customs, I found him and he led me to his limousine, an old vintage autorickshaw which you see everywhere here in India. He dropped me off at Ratan Lal market area near the New Delhi train station where the guesthouse was. He then tried to get payment even though he had already been paid by my hosts. Even those that are supposed to be trusted try to scam you. After many years of traveling, it has become an accepted and expected part of the journey. How you deal with it depends on you. Coming from a subdued Central Asia, there’s really no point in preparing oneself for India. You just jump right into the sight, sound, and smell of it all.
